At Hawkins Archaeology, we assess your property for potential archaeological and heritage remains, make recommendations that help you design your project to reduce costs, and help you get the ball rolling with Heritage New Zealand authority applications to modify archaeological and heritage sites if needed.

Under the NZHPT 2014 ACT, we conduct archaeological monitoring and excavations as mitigation permitted by any authority granted by Heritage New Zealand.  We use sampling strategies and the latest archaeological methods, and safety procedures  to execute this at the highest standard that ensures detailed analyses of archaeological remains, while streamlining the process for cost-effectiveness. 

Our team writes comprehensive archaeological and heritage assessments as well as detailed scientific preliminary and final reports to satisfy an important condition of the HNZ authority process. 

Our team comprise some of the most experienced osteologists in the Asia-Pacific region, capable of recovering and analyzing vertebrate and invertebrate remains commonly found in sites throughout Island Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including European and Māori sites.  

We work with renowned institutes throughout the world to engage in multidisciplinary research that answers the big questions about our past for publication in peer reviewed journals.
